Social Bowls Program and Other Competitions

  Corporate and Barefoot Bowls

 

The Club has great facilities for corporate bowls, and we can accommodate up to 80 bowlers.  Bookings for November and December can be heavy so make sure you enquire early if you want to secure a time during this period.  Corporate Bowls packages include BBQ’s packages,selections from our snack menu or meals in our fully licensed bistro or one of our private dining rooms.  For more details please  contact the Club.

  Social and Barefoot Bowls

​

Assuming availability, the green is available for hire at $20 per person and this includes use of the Club’s facilities.  If you have bowled before you will be able to use the green unsupervised (assumes 4 or less people), however if you have never bowled before we will need to organise supervision  (this is to protect our grass green).  For more details please contact the Club.

   The Club extends reciprocal rights to members of other bowling clubs and there is no charge for the use of the green.

  The mixed social bowls program encompasses:

​

  Thursday Bowls

 

  Mixed social bowls are played every Thursday of the bowling season.

​

• On the first Thursday of the month, the Club conducts mixed nominated triples i.e. three players enter as a team. If you cannot form a team, you can place your name and phone number on the listing for the day, as a single entry, and the organisers will try to fit you in. If they cannot, they will ring or text you. The games, which are 2-bowls triples, commence at 1.00 p.m., dress is mufti, and current green fees are $10 per player.

• On the other Thursday's, the Club conducts mixed 3 bowl triples, and the organisers arrange the teams for the afternoon from the listing for the day. Entries for the mixed 3 bowls triples must be lodged by no later than 11.30 a.m. on the day. Players are required to be in attendance by no later than 12.30 p.m. The games commence at 1.00 p.m., dress is mufti, and current green fees are $7 per player. Games usually finish between 4.00 p.m. and 4.30 p.m.

  Visiting Clubs (Tattersalls Melbourne)

​

 Tattersalls Melbourne bowlers visit the club on six Mondays during the season. The Tattersalls Melbourne bowlers play every Monday at Clubs in the     South east suburbs within the Sandbelt Bowls Region. Quite a number of The Elsternwick Club members are also members of Tattersalls Melbourne.   Entries are required on the schedule for the day and players are required to be in attendance by no later than 12.30 p.m.

 Games start at 1 pm, dress is club uniform or whites, and current green fees are $7 per player. Games finish with the bell at 4 pm.

 

 For the 2018/2019 season, Tattersalls Melbourne scheduled games at The Elsternwick Club are on the 10th September, 22nd. October, 31st.

 December, 11th. March and 1st. April.

 Other bowls Clubs and groups, such as the Master Builders Association Victoria,  visit during the season, and details are advised well before the date of   the visit.

​

  Other Social Bowls

​

 The Club also conducts mixed social bowls on a number of other days during the season, including Opening Day, Melbourne Cup Day,                 

 Australia Day  and Presidents Day. Details are advised well in advance of the event.

​

  Winter Bowls

​

 The Club's green is closed for four months bewteen late April and late August. During that time, quite a few of the Club's members play at           

 Southern Indoor Bowls Club (SIBC), 350 Hawthorn Road, Caulfield South, approximately  2.5 km from The Elsternwick Club.

 SIBC has two full sized carpet greens, and conducts weekly team competitions during the day and early evening, on most days.

 The SIBC has heating and air-conditioning, and some off street car parking.

 A number of The Elsternwick Club members play winter bowls on outdoor synthetic greens at Elsternwick Park, Moorabbin, Armadale and                     Caulfield Park Alma.
